Yesterday I was too lazy to cook so Hubby suggested to go for Korean food. When it comes to Korean food, we always head to Nak Won Restaurant which is located inside the Hartamas Square foodcourt (next to Coffee Bean and opposite Uncle Don) in Desa Sri Hartamas. Parking can be a problem but if you dine in that area, but you can park your car right behind of the restaurant/Hartamas Square (turn left after coffee bean and left again after Soda Club), it's free!
There are two entrances to Nak Won, one is via the Hartamas Square and the other is through the back.
What we like about this place is the amount of Kim Chi served. For 2 of us, they served up to 15 dishes of various Kim Chis and you can actually request for 2nd portion for free. Not bad eh?
The spicy kimchi beef soup was also complimentary. I find the soup extremely tasty with lots of big beansprout (what is dai dau nga called in English?), radish, kimchi (marinated chinese cabbage) and minced beef.
Also complimentary is the Steamed Egg served in the hot stonepot. We don't like this dish as the egg is overcooked due to the hotpot. Last visit we actually requested not to be serve with this dish but they insist we take it cos it's complimentary. And this time, we didn't even touch it, such a waste.
To grill the meat, charcoals are used instead of electrical griller....mmm..don't you agree that cooking your meat with charcoals are much nicer???
We ordered a serving of Marinated Chicken (RM30) which came with 3 pieces of deboned chicken thigh. The staff will grill it for you, so all you have to do is to sit, savour the kimchi and wait to be served.
Once the meats are cooked, it will be cut into smaller bite-sized pieces. Yumzz...i like my meat slightly burnt on the edges. Slurpz...but very heaty though.
For condiments, you will get a plate of green chillies, slices of raw garlic, red miso paste, sweet sauce and lettuce leaves. Wrap all the ingredient into a small pouch aka "Sang-Choy-Bao" and pop it into your mouth. DELICIOUS!!! The chicken was very well marinated; tender, juicy and flavourful. Why need rice when you can have unlimited serving of lettuce to wrap with meat?
A must-order is their marinated pork ribs (RM28) which I find really worth it cos the portion is huge. Very well marinated ....tender and juicy. Very highly recommended. I was eyeing on their marinated lamb ribs but was told not available yesterday....grrrr.
All cut into small pieces and ready to be served. Yumzzzzz....I can have this whole plate all for myself.
Caution: Korean BBQ is very heaty....to cool down my body, I had a cup of Iced Green Tea. Mmmm..refreshing. I find this meal so healthy, full of veggies and 'fat-free' grilled meat. Perfect for those on protein diet.
Desserts were alsogiven complimentary; a bowl of barley-like water which I don't quite like it. Tasted funny...i suspect it's a different type of grains used.
Ahhh...watermelon to soothe my 'sore-throat-coming-back' symptom.
